- RN STAFF DEVELOPMENT EDUCATOR: The Staff Development Educator is a member of the Education Department and the Nursing Leadership team. The SDE supports the orientation and special educational needs of employees in various areas of the organization. The educator is an expert at course curriculum development that uses blended methodology and meets standards for effective adult learning, EBP, TJC, CMS, professional organizations, current knowledge, articles, journals, literature, etc. The SDE conducts annual needs assessments and develops annual education and professional growth plans for the nursing departments down to the individual level with input from nursing leaders. He/She develops short term and long term goals for the departments, implements education plans accordingly, and monitors progress toward goals. The SDE prioritizes and redesigns work based on organizational imperatives, nursing quality indicators, and patient outcomes. The SDE develops educational content to address deficits in patient care outcomes, performance improvement results, and regulatory requirements. The SDE participates in nursing and interdisciplinary task forces, councils, and meetings intended to review and analyze quality and performance data. The SDE must be knowledgeable of problem solving methodologies, process improvement, and project management tools. The SDE uses these effectively and teaches others the processes. The SDE works well with others and is flexible to the needs of education department and patient care units. The SDE is instrumental in the facilitation and assistance of our UHC residency, Medical/Surgical or specialty Residencies, Preceptor Program, BLS, ACLS, CPR educational training, inservices, onboarding of new employees, and various others projects. The SDE is a professional who seeks learning opportunities to continually increase knowledge base, including professional organizations, journal clubs, webinars, lectures, local, regional, national conference attendance. The SDE presents information in a manner representing professional nursing as a positive, articulate, and knowledgeable discipline. He/She develops personal and professional performance objectives/goals and action plans to continually remain knowledgeable and up to date with the current health care environment, community health prevention/treatments, nursing professional, legal, and economic trends. He/She reviews own course evaluations and develops and implements action plans to improve. Requirements and Qualifications: Bachelors degree required. Must obtain National Certification within 2 years of hire. Must obtain Master's degree within 3 years of hire. Must have 3-5 yrs recent, inpatient acute care experience. Experience educating adults preferred. CPR, BLS, & ACLS instructor or willing to obtain instructor level. Must be proficient with technology and able to creatively develop curriculum. Experience with Magnet, ANCC, TNA, Shared Governance, QI monitoring, protocol and policy development etc. a plus. Minimum Requirements Preferred at Hire Must Obtain Certification/ Licensure Registered Nurse license; BLS Healthcare Provider BLS Instructor National Certification within 2 years of hire Education Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) MA/MS Masters in Nursing or related discipline within 3 years of hire Experience (years/type) 3-5 yrs recent, inpatient acute care experience 1-3 years in training or staff development 1-3 years as an organizational trainer of a health system or large corporation Specialized Training Training course development and delivery Computer Skills (Hardware/Software) Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, EPIC or other EMR Equipment (Experience and/or Training) General knowledge and experience in use of office equipment ie copier, fax, telephone, and DVD and Video Streaming and LCD projector, Other Skills & Competencies Excellent public speaking and presentation skills, excellent communication skills
